Extremely professional eye doctor, took the time to explain his findings, diagnosis, and treatment options. Made me feel like I was part of the decision making process. Highly recommend opthamologist Dr. Deluca. Saw him twice…once at Upper east side office and once at Gramercy office. Upper east side office is a bit nicer, but he does most procedures and high tech testing at the larger gramercy office, but wait is definitely longer there. ~Vitals

I feel fortunate to have had Dr. Deluca perform cataract removal surgery on each of my eyes, about 4 months apart. This is routine surgery for ophthalmologists but there was
nothing rote about his communications or his treatment of me. He was clear, patient, informal, and thorough in explaining my options, and flexible in helping me sort through them. He welcomed and answered all of my questions at every stage and was completely supportive of my decision making process.
With the help of his talented coworker, best optometrist in NYC, I was able to try several different combinations of contact lenses to approximate different post-op vision results. At my request, Dr. Deluca asked a former patient who had similar visual issues to call and tell me about her experience, By the time I reached a decision I trusted Dr. Deluca 100%, and this continued through the surgery itself and the followup. He explained everything that was happening during the operation, which included beautiful kaleidoscopic effects. I am very grateful for the eyesight I have now, still seeing things in my surroundings I had never seen before. Dr. Deluca is extremely skilled and he puts the interests and needs of his patients first. I would recommend him to anyone who needs help with their eyes. ~Yelp
On a friend’s recommendation, I saw Dr. De Luca for my Lasik surgery. From the very first pre-screening appointment, he was completely professional and no-nonsense. Sometimes this no-nonsense attitude comes across as shortness, but I like my doctors to be a little bit brusque, rather than having a warm and gooey bedside manner.
The thing I liked the most about Dr. De Luca is he’s VERY cautious. In fact, the reason that my friend recommended him to me is that he actually turned her DOWN for Lasik surgery, telling her that he thought it would be too risky for her, so he refused to do it. She appreciated that a lot, rather than some of these other Lasik places which just want to push you into the surgery so they can get your money. On the contrary, Dr. De Luca is very careful about explaining every possible option and every possible risk.
During the surgery itself, which is a pretty freaky experience, I was very glad to be hearing this guy’s voice the whole time. As usual, he was calm, professional and no-nonsense, and he talked to me throughout the entire procedure and explained exactly what was about to happen and how it would look or feel, so I was never surprised or nervous. (Okay, who am I kidding: I was a little nervous, but he doped me up with Valium beforehand so it was manageable.)
I am now in month 9 of my post-op, and Dr. De Luca is still keeping up with me and having regular appointments (all the post-op is included in the one flat price of Lasik). I’m deciding whether to get a touch-up in one eye (touch-ups are also included in the same flat price), and he’s explaining all the benefits and risks, including asking me to consider what my eyesight will be like in another 10 years when it might be time for reading glasses, and how my decision will affect me then. I’m glad that someone is forcing me to think long into the future, instead of just giving me what I want right now and then sending me away.
Overall, Dr. De Luca is like your over-protective dad, who respects your decision whatever it is, but asks you to consider all the possible outcomes first. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering Lasik. ~Yelp
Loved him! My third New York ophthalmologist in the past 2 years. From the minute Dr. Deluca introduced himself, he was personable and we established a quick rapport. Extremely knowledgeable, perceptive to what I needed, cost conscious, and I could not be gladder that I can stop looking for an optho in NYC that I like. ~ZodDoc
NYC Ophthalmologist Dr. Deluca was super professional and helpful. He manage to explain everything clearly to me. I trust his diagnose. Also the front desk, Michael and Jennifer, they’re quite busy but patient. And other staff, helped me out with my insurance issue. Five-star experience! ~ZocDoc
